Rose Dickinson

Rose is taking part in our coming Makers and Designers Market at Turner Contemporay on 4th and 5th December.

Describe what you do as a creative.

I’m a potter, using various hand building techniques to make 2 distinct collections of work. I use porcelain to make a Flora & Flora collection which is both decorative & functional and which includes tableware, wall plaques, brooches and clocks. I use wild flowers juxtaposed with found textures to decorate these pieces and use underglaze colours to highlight the designs.
My second collection comprises plant pot holders, planters and succulent dishes using a variety of clays including red & black terracotta and stoneware crank using found textures as decoration.

How did you begin doing what you do?

After a foundation year at art school gave me the opportunity to work in lots of different media I decided to study ceramics & 3D design. I have been lucky to be able to earn a living from making & teaching ceramics all my working life.
