I’m a jewellery maker
Tell us briefly about yourself.
I grew up in South Africa and have always loved to travel. I enjoy experiencing different cultures on many levels.
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
I was always making things as a child so it was pretty evident I’d spend my adult life as a creative.
How did you begin doing what you do?
I went to art college and studied jewellery and allied crafts.
What turns on your creativity?
For me the process of creating spurs me on to create more
What do you like best about your work?
I enjoy its simplicity and I try to achieve cleanliness of line.
Describe a memorable response to your work?
I’m always very happy when my work is received as a gift and I learn that it is something which is cherished. I feel very privileged to be able to participate in another person’s special occasion
Artists / creative people are your heroes / inspiring figures?
I’m interested in African art, I love the use of materials and I love African fabrics. Matisse is my favourite artist and the botanical photography of Karl Blossfeldt has been inspirational.
